What to Expect

What to Expect

If you decide to schedule a photo shoot with me, what can you expect?

The process will begin with meeting in person to talk about the shoot. Although it may seem easier to schedule the shoot over e-mail or phone, I believe that meeting in person is more personal and also helps bypass misunderstandings and make expectations clear for both of us. When we meet, I’ll ask a little about your story, about what makes you “you”, what you love and what makes you excited in this particular season of your life. Then we’ll talk about some ideas for celebrating those things in the photo shoot, including ideas for possible locations and props. On a practical note, we will also sign a contract at this meeting (to legally protect both of us) and I’ll collect a deposit to hold the date of your photo shoot.

In the weeks following this meeting up until the actual photo shoot, we’ll continue this conversation and exchange of ideas through e-mail, text, or social media, as we solidify details about the shoot. If you don’t like or feel uncomfortable with any idea that comes up in these exchanges, definitely let me know! I want this photo shoot to celebrate you, so your thoughts and ideas on this are important!

On the day of the shoot, we’ll both arrive on time and ready to go! Whenever possible, I try to schedule photo shoots within a couple hours of sunrise or sunset to catch that unique golden light, so timing is important. (You'll have decided ahead of time what length session you'd like, so we know how much time we have to work with).

After the session, I will carefully sort through all the photos and edit the best ones. This process usually takes 2-3 weeks but can take up to 4 weeks. I usually try to post a few "sneak peaks" on Facebook, though, so the wait doesn't feel as long! I want the photos to celebrate who you are, so I don’t do heavy Photoshop work. However, I may tweak the lighting, contrast, and coloring of the photos to bring out the best in them.

Once the photos are ready, I’ll send you a link where you can download your photos. At this point you'll also have the option to order prints, photo books, or other products through me if you'd like.

From there, your images are yours to enjoy and treasure, whether you decide to hang them on your walls, place them in an album, or share them with loved ones.
